On April 10, 2019, the Oregon Crime Victims Law Center held its second annual Hardy Myers fundraiser dinner.
More than 200 guests attended this year’s event, including the family of Hardy Myers, a founding OCVLC member and its first board president.
A highlight of the evening was the award of the Hardy Myers Victim Advocacy Award to victim advocate Mary Elledge, the head of the Oregon chapter of Parents of Murdered Children. Her involvement with POMC spans 33 years, after she discovered the organization following her son Rob’s murder.
Others from the Oregon legal community were in attendance, including Chief Justice Martha Walters, former Chief Justice and Associate Justice Thomas Balmer of the Oregon Supreme Court; Judges Rex Armstrong, Erika Hadlock and Steve Powers from the Oregon Court of Appeals; Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill; Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote; Washington County District Attorney Kevin Barton; and Columbia County District Attorney Jeff Auxier.
OCVLC began 10 years ago as a nonprofit organization providing free legal representation in Oregon. It currently has four staff attorneys to assist the public in obtaining legal representation, compensation to crime victims and upholding crime victims’ rights.
